[preview]: Silent Hill Fest!

Silent Hill fans haven’t been particularly happy with Konami’s constant decisions to delay what is rightfully theirs. Things have a habit of working themselves out though, and now what we are facing is a solid month of Silent Hill releases — which is, well…a glorious time in videogame history.

Three SH titles are bound for shelves in thought out succession:

Silent Hill Downpour [PS3/360] – March 13th
Silent Hill HD Collection [PS3/360] – March 20th
Silent Hill: Book Of Memories [Vita] – March 27th

The way this is looking, I might not get anything accomplished this month (except snagging some platinum trophies, amirite??)

For those of you who didn’t see last year’s E3 trailer for Downpour, it looks like it might finally prove western developers can make a good SH game.

I really hope this is the case.

Although I completed 2008′s Homecoming, I think most fans would agree it was lacking in a lot of qualities the classic SH series had. I feel like the series needs to have a strong next-gen release, and hopefully Downpour will surpass my expectations.

The HD Collection is just as exciting as a brand new SH game! I get to replay two of horror gaming’s greatest titles (SH2 & SH3) with trophy support and updated graphics! Not to mention all new voice acting was recorded for SH2 specifically for this release. I didn’t think the original voice acting was terrible, but I’m not complaining!

Lastly, Book Of Memories is an overhead-view, almost dungeon crawler SH title that looks to be very different from its sister games. Unfortunately for me, Book Of Memories is exclusive to the Vita. Is it good enough to sway me into a purchase of Sony’s new handheld?

I guess we’ll have to wait and see…

We’ll keep you all posted with our first impressions this month as the Silent Hill Fest is soon to begin!
