Last night, Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” started playing at my local trivia scene. During the song, I look over at my girlfriend and say, “I’m surprised this song hasn’t made it to Rock Band yet.” Well, it looks like the fine folks over at Harmonix heard my plea and have awarded me with one of the Internet’s oldest memes: the Rick Roll.
As part of the “Gold Star My Heart Pack,” Mr. Astley and three other love songs are coming to the Rock Band library just in time for Valentine’s Day. Here are the songs:
Heart – “Alone”
Mr. Big – “To Be With You”
Poison – “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”
Rick Astley – “Never Gonna Give You Up”
All of the songs except “To Be With You” will support keyboard, while only “To Be With You” and “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” will have the optional pro guitar upgrade. You can buy each song individually for $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) or the pack as a whole for $6.99 (560 Microsoft Points).
So there you have it. Nothing quite says I love you on Valentine’s Day like a Rick Roll on Rock Band.
The “Gold Start My Heart” Pack will be available for Rock Band 3 on Valentine’s Day, February 14, on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii.
